The baby boomers are beginning to reach retirement age. That’s right, the ones that thought their lot in life was eternal youth are now facing their conclusion.

In the last few weeks I’ve said goodbye to quite a few. Chris, a typical boomer, left this earth having fought a long fight with illness and his family and friends wanted to do the funeral their way. Chris’s goodbye had involvement, personal contribution, individualised items of his.

The boomers have always pushed the boundaries, not followed tradition and wanted to individualize everything. Their farewell will be no different.

Funeral industry…

Are you ready for the massive swell in numbers?
The radical shift in needs of flexibility and the move away from tradition?

Can you hear the dialogue…

“You can’t do that,” says the funeral industry.
“Yes I can… AND yes I will,” replies the boomer.

Get ready…

Whether we like it or not, the boomers are coming… or more accurately, going!

My hint: the wise businesses are putting processes and systems in place to cater for the massive changing needs.
